Frequently Asked Questions
What is hypnosis? Is it safe?
Hypnosis is a safe and effective method, one of the most effective to help people let go of the past, change beliefs, modify behaviours and ways of thinking and reacting. All of this without risks. Hypnosis is a natural state of consciousness, in which we are able to let go of what is not useful, relearn, and accept new information more easily. All of this is done without resistance or blockage. You become more open to the change you want and seek.
What is NOT hypnosis? Myths that we must clarify.
Myths and Truths about Hypnosis:
MYTH: Hypnosis is sleeping, or you will be unconscious
REALITY: You don’t fall asleep. In that state you participate in the process and are more receptive. You will be able to hear and feel everything that happens during the session and you never lose consciousness. If you did lose consciousness, you can not follow my instructions resulting in being unable to experience it. It is done with the eyes closed, this facilitates concentration.
MYTH: You can do things against your will, or you will be under the therapist’s control.
REALITY: Any person who resists being hypnotized cannot be hypnotized. The client’s will is required to be able to do it. This process is like a dance, if you do not want to dance, there will be no dance.
MYTH: It is risky to stay in that state, trapped in trance
REALITY: You cannot stay in that state, the most that can happen is that you fall asleep, remember that you are always conscious. There are thousands of people being hypnotized in clinics, courses and shows all over the world. If this myth were true, hypnosis would be illegal.
MYTH: I am very logical, very analytical, hypnosis will not work for me.
REALITY: All people, regardless of the way they think or process information, can do it. Hypnosis is a mental state that involves imagination, concentration and emotion (e.g. like when you watch a movie, it’s very natural).
Can I do hypnotherapy if I am diagnosed with a mental disorder and/or taking psychiatric medications?
Unfortunately, I do not offer hypnotherapy to people diagnosed with mental disorders (e.g., bipolar disorder, dementia, schizophrenia, psychosis, etc.) or who are taking psychiatric medications. (e.g.: antipsychotics)
My apologies if this is your case.
Why choose a 90 minutes session instead of 60 minutes?
Throughout my practice, I have found that a longer session is much more effective, it allows you to go deeper into what you want to improve and have greater results.
